The Home of the Soul

Listening to them preach – in the days of old –

I followed what they said was the right path – until one day

I couldn’t ignore the wrong in all that I was told,

and let the pull within my soul allow me to stray.

For better or for worse, I chose the journey,

that would lead me to my destination –

fearful and faltering in its uncertainty;

yet solaced knowing it was of my volition.

And on this path I cast the cloak of influences asunder,

finding my voice, my calling and my home –

and watched in silent, solemn wonder,

karma changing the lines on my palm…

  1. Your bravery is shining brightly here!πŸ’™ I love the way it ended on a vibrant note of karma to whom we all surrender. Such a captivating and motivating poetry Isha. You have a beautiful soul.

    1. Ah yes, I’ve heard that lovely saying! Thanks Abhay.
      Here the poem is on similar lines, no pun intended, if you see. One embarks on a proverbial life journey, causing the karmic palm lines to change – not the other way around 😊

  2. I like the analogy of casting off a cloak, shedding the layers and allowing a naked soul to bare itself, despite the biting icy mistrals of expectations.
    A delightful post to ponder sweet lady! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ˜Š
