Full Moon

Nocturnal voyage, the shore not nigh
the rhythm of blue waters…a lullaby…
Her hypnotic gleam doth mesmerise –
‘Don’t look up’, I say, ‘lest it be a long night’,
on these waves with their lullaby,
sway and sigh and sway and sigh.

The waters mirror her; they shimmer as I row –
only but the next step revealed in luminous glow.
She commands me in all senses but one, even now
and if I look up, by Lord, she’d have my very soul…
upon these waves, and in my boat,
to and fro and to and fro.

Now enchanted and entranced down to the core,
I find I can reign myself in no more –
gone is resistance; gone even the oars –
as I, spelled to silence, am miraculously led ashore.
upon these waves, by her mystical lure
here I go, and here I go…

  1. Such a sense of calm in these words and something more, a knowing. Maybe I imagine it? Maybe I am changed from the journey of having lived in these times, so read with a surprising insight. I’m not distracted at all by the infinite night or horizon than curls beyond oblivion. We have a moon that wanes but a spirit that persists. The boat may shudder but our focus is fixed on the truth, oh how I enjoyed this! ❤️

    1. ❤️

It’s difficult to kill hope and that hopelessly romantic belief in magic, in the ultimate wisdom of a glowing universe that may guide a weary, “oar-less”, and afraid sailor to shore.
      ❤️

Needless to say, I’ve read this comment multiple times and I’m just going to let myself admire and revel in the beautiful artistry of it, and remind myself of the great blessing that you are to me. ❤️🤗

  2. Wow, this is a masterpiece! The second stanza is the one that does it for me “The waters mirror her; they shimmer as I row – only but the next step revealed in luminous glow” What a beautiful line! What a beautiful way to express the darkness inside! So so loved it ❤❤
